5 · Layer the vibe

Real tracks stack parts. Put each pattern on its own line, prefixed with $:, and they all play together — a mini multitrack.

• Play it. Then mute a layer by putting // at the start of its line, play again, and remove the // to bring it back. That's how you arrange.
• Paste the beat you liked from Step 2 as another $: line and hear it sit in the mix.

Mixing

.gain(.4) sets a layer's volume (1 is full). If it sounds muddy, turn layers down rather than others up.
